Hana O’regan Appointed General Manager

Hana O’regan Appointed General Manager – Oranga, Te Rūnanga O Ngāi Tahu.
Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Chief Executive Officer, Arihia Bennett, is pleased to announce the appointment of Hana O’Regan to the newly created position of General Manager – Oranga.
“I am very happy to have someone of Hana’s calibre, expertise and commitment to her iwi as part of my executive team. Hana’s impressive leadership at the Canterbury Polytechnic Institute of Technology, leading five work streams with well over a hundred staffing personnel, shows she has the necessary strategic implementation and management experience required for this role. Her sterling work with language revitalisation in Ngāi Tahu, also shows that she has the inspirational leadership to help meet our strategic objectives,” said Ms Bennett.
The newly created General Manager – Oranga role will be responsible for leading the four key focus areas of education, employment, financial literacy and business creation at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. The role has been created to help realise rangatiratanga for all whānau of Ngāi Tahu.
“This role is going to be part innovator, part creator, part developer, part enabler, but more importantly requires someone who is a leader. In Hana, we have someone with the energy, determination and aptitude to ensuring success for whānau through realising whānau rangatiratanga,” said Ms Bennett.
For Hana O’Regan, her appointment signals both a change in focus, but also a return to Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, after ten years working at the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT).
“I am extremely happy to be returning to Te Rūnanga after spending a long time at CPIT. I'm looking forward to the opportunity through my new mahi to contribute directly to the economic, financial, political and cultural independence and sustainability of my iwi. To be able to play a vital role in achieving these things is an opportunity for me to realise my own goals, as well as the goals of my iwi,” said Ms O’Regan.
Ms O’Regan will commence her role as General Manager – Oranga on January 25, 2016.
