Raw Cannabis a Human Right - Cannabis Party
Access to raw cannabis should be a human right for medical patients, the Cannabis Party says.
The Law Commission supported the use of raw cannabis as a medicine.
However, guidelines released last week by the Ministry of Health echo Peter Dunne's comments during an interview with
Guyon Espiner where he ruled out raw cannabis.
"In the 23 States of the US where raw cannabis is legal for medical use, it has proven to be superior to isolated
cannabinoid extracts," party leader Julian Crawford said.
"However, for non-pharmaceutical cannabis products to be considered in New Zealand, the patient would have to be on
their death-bed. This violates the Human Rights of thousands of people who are in pain or suffering daily but do not
have a terminal illness."
Cannabis Party policy would allow patients or their caregivers to grow cannabis or buy it from specialised medical
dispensaries.
