No more excuses, release the text NOW
With a deal struck in Atlanta, the New Zealand Government no longer has any reasonable justification for its ongoing TPPA secrecy, according to It’s Our Future spokesperson Edward Miller.
“Hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders have expressed serious concern over these negotiations, and the details coming out of Atlanta have done little to allay those fears,” said Edward Miller.
“It’s Our Future is calling for the immediate release of the finished texts, as well as all decision-making materials, so New Zealanders can start to come to grips with what this agreement will mean for their future”, said Miller.
“The El Dorado deal on dairy has failed to materialise. The comprehensive market access for meat is nowhere to be seen. And yet the concerns of the so-called ‘breathless children’ of New Zealand, around investor-state dispute settlement provisions, access to medicines, rules controlling the operation of state-owned enterprises and other chapters that amplify the power of foreign investors, have hardly been addressed at all.”
“Key and Groser will be beginning their public relations push to try and dress this up as a major win. They know there is still time for us to back out of this toxic deal.”
“No more excuses, release the text NOW.”
