Change the NZ Flag welcomes Red Peak, agreement on flag referendum process
Change the NZ Flag welcomes the inclusion of the Red Peak design in the new flag designs for the forthcoming referendum" said Lewis Holden, campaign chair of Change the NZ Flag.
"The flag debate has always been about getting New Zealanders to engage in the question of what our national identity is and what symbols should represent all of us to the world into the future. Including the Red Peak flag does that" added Mr Holden.
"While there may be some disquiet at changing the process at this stage, what Parliament has demonstrated is that there is broad agreement on the intention of the process, even if we might disagree on some of the details. It's healthy in a democracy that our elected representatives can continually debate, discuss and ultimately improve processes" concluded Mr Holden.
