Home invasion should be treated as terrorism - SST
“People should be safe in their home –especially the elderly – anyone committing home invasion should face the full force of the law and be charged and sentenced as terrorists.” SST
A Youth Advocate for the Sensible Sentencing Trust says anyone committing home invasion should be treated as terrorists.
Jess McVicar [SST Youth Advocate] made the comments after an 85 year old man was attacked and in hospital after a home invasion in Millen Ave Pakuranga.
Jess says the fact the victim was an elderly person and that the home invasion was literally 5 minutes down the road from where she lives had a double-whammy effect on her. "
"What on earth made these mongrels think it is ok to break into an innocent person’s home and beat them senseless and to have the audacity to steal what is not theirs.”
“East Auckland has seen an increase in crime with daily attacks on cars, houses, and even people just getting into their car at a shopping mall.”
Jess says “this is where it starts, ‘small time crimes’ then they get bolshie and greedy and go to harming poor innocent people."
“These criminals are out-smarting the system, they are not getting caught often enough and when they do they get a slap on the wrist so they don't care.”
“People should be safe in their home –especially the elderly – anyone committing home invasion should face the full force of the law and be charged and sentenced as terrorists.”
The elderly man had just recently bought a new Suzuki swift which is now missing reports are saying this was the motivation for the attack.
Jess says there has not been enough information released to the public to help catch these thieves
“Once again the system is protecting the criminal, I do realize it is an on-going investigation but we should know the colour and number plate of this car so that anyone who spots it can inform the police.” ENDS
