National Warning: Tsunami Threat to New Zealand

Issued at 1300hours on 17 September 2015

The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management (MCDEM) has issued a tsunami warning (marine and beach threat) for Chatham Islands, East Cape, Coromandel, Banks Peninsula.

This warning will remain in effect until a cancellation message is issued by MCDEM.

MCDEM and scientific advisors are still assessing the threat and no new information is currently available. Please see message number #1 for current information.

This warning has been issued to all local civil defence authorities, emergency services, other agencies and media.
