This weekend on The Nation...

As the world faces the worst refugee crisis since World War Two we ask if New Zealand is doing enough. We’ll speak to the Red Cross’ Stephen Ryan from Hungary, the frontline of the crisis in Europe. And then we’ll cross to the UNHCR in Geneva to talk about how it got this bad and what NZ should be doing.

Then, John Key says we should focus on the “outstanding” job we do with new refugees rather than increasing our quota. So Nicola Kean talks to refugees and support organisations about whether we really are doing such a good job once they arrive.

And five years after the first devastating Christchurch earthquake, Torben Akel investigates the progress of the CBD rebuild through the eyes of people who know the city best – its past three mayors.

We’ll discuss all this a more with our panel: Former Labour MP and union organiser Darien Fenton, former Act leader Jamie Whyte, and Metro editor Simon Wilson.
