Change the NZ Flag: Final Four Flags Release Builds Momentum for Change

The release of the final four flag designs builds the growing momentum for a new flag.

"The final four designs to be put to New Zealanders in the first referendum are a historic step forward for New Zealand" said Lewis Holden, campaign chair of Change the NZ Flag.

"For the first time in our history we will get to choose a symbol of our country democratically. It's clear that the excitement is building" continued Mr Holden.

A NZ Herald Digipoll of 750 New Zealanders out today shows opposition to change has dropped from 70% in April to 53% in August. A number of people support change in principle, and more on the basis of the design put forward.

"This is exactly why it is critical we debate the design of the flag first, before deciding if the alternative should replace the 1902 flag as our national flag" continued Mr Holden.

"The campaign will now focus on getting as many supporters of change to make sure they vote for their preferred flags. We will be running an online poll to find out which design is the front runner, and announce the results just before voting on the alternative flag begins" concluded Mr Holden.
