Talktreaty Exhibition Launch

Economist Dr Gareth Morgan, who earlier this year was accused by the New Zealand media of labelling pakeha New Zealanders “blissfully ignorant”, is about to share with the public part-two of an ongoing project about the Treaty of Waitangi.

“Talk Treaty” follows on from the book “Are we there yet” co authored by Dr Morgan and Susan Guthrie and released in January. Talk Treaty is a visual exhibition and and online museum showing many well-known New Zealanders - Maori and non Maori - talking candidly about the Treaty of Waitangi and what it means to them.

All views were welcomed in Talk Treaty and you’ll find plenty of diverse opinions there. The purpose of Talk Treaty was to provide a safe environment for people, to encourage them to share their thoughts on the Treaty, and issues related to it such as race relations. Dr Morgan hopes the project will encourage a public conversation.

Dr Morgan will launch this exhibition on:

Thursday 06 August at 5.30pm in Auckland City.

This event is an invite-only evening and numbers are strictly limited however Dr Morgan is making some invitations available to members of the public.

“we try to take every opportunity to let New Zealanders see what we are doing and hopefully learn new things from the research we undertake” says Dr Morgan. “We welcome those who are interested in what we do, to come and enjoy an evening of celebration, entertainment, and experience Talk Treaty first hand”.
