Say no to McDonalds on May 1

Say no to McDonalds on May 1

Workers are asking New Zealanders to stay away from McDonalds on May 1; International Workers Day.

CTU Secretary, Sam Huggard is concerned that McDonalds, one of the world’s biggest and richest companies remains reluctant to finalise an end to zero hour contracts, in recent talks with Unite Union.

“A significant number of fast food companies have recognised that zero hour contracts are not good for business. They’ve listened to their workers, and made zero hour contracts history. McDonalds needs to get with the programme!”

“On May 1 stay away from McDonalds; this is the message we want people to understand. McDonalds need to know that not only do their workers want certainty of hours, but McDonald’s customers want that too.”
