RNZN Ship Representation Anzac Day 2015

The Royal New Zealand Navy will be representing New Zealand around the world this Anzac Day. Our ships will be at locations as far away as Gallipoli, at sea or in their New Zealand home ports. The ships’ crews are planning to attend many services to mark this centenary commemoration.

HMNZS TE KAHA
HMNZS TE KAHA will be just off the shore of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Personnel onboard will be in a prime position to witness the ceremonies ashore.

Commanding Officer: Commander Simon Griffiths, RNZN
Complement: 178 officers and ratings
Type of Ship: Frigate
Home Port: Auckland

HMNZS ENDEAVOUR
HMNZS ENDEAVOUR will be in Darwin, Australia. The Ship’s Company will attend a dawn service at the Darwin Cenotaph followed by a service at St Mary’s Catholic Church at 7.30 am and will then march through the city with their Australian counterparts.

Complement: 50 officers and ratings
Type of Ship: Fleet replenishment tanker
Home Port: New Plymouth

HMNZS CANTERBURY
HMNZS CANTERBURY will be on her way back from Vanuatu after providing support to the disaster hit region. The ship will conduct a service onboard while in transit.

Complement: 100 officers and ratings plus 250 embarked personnel
Type of Ship: Logistic Support Ship
Home Port: Christchurch

HMNZS MANAWANUI
HMNZS MANAWANUI will be in her homeport of Whitianga. The Ship’s Company will attend the local dawn service followed by a civic parade.

Commanding Officer: Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Clarkson, RNZN
Complement: 24 officers and ratings
Type of Ship: Operational Diving Support Ship
Home Port: Whitianga

HMNZS WELLINGTON
HMNZS WELLINGTON will be in her homeport of Wellington. The ship will arrive on Wednesday, April 22 and conduct a formation entry with the French Naval Ship VENDEMIAIRE which is also in Wellington for Anzac Day. The Ship’s Company will attend local services around Wellington.

Complement: 80 officers and ratings
Type of Ship: Offshore Patrol Vessel
Home Port: Wellington

HMNZS HAWEA
HMNZS HAWEA will be in her homeport of Westport. The ship will split her Ship’s Company into groups in order to cover as many services as possible. They will be attending services at Granity, Waimangaroa, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika and Reefton. They will also conduct Charter Parades in Hokitika, Greymouth and Westport on Monday, 27 April.

Complement: 38 officers and ratings
Type of Ship: Offshore Patrol Vessel
Home Port: Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika
