Druglawed documentary accepted into festival circuit

The Cannabis Party is welcoming the launch of a new documentary about New Zealand's continuing involvement in the failed War on Drugs.

'Druglawed' launched with an Underworld Premiere in Auckland on January 24th, and is scheduled for a grand World Premiere in Dunedin in the coming months. It will also be shown on the film festival circuit.

Party leader Julian Crawford said 'Druglawed' was the only feature-length documentary to cover the cannabis issue in New Zealand.

"A number of cannabis experts including Cannabis Party candidates Abe Gray and Maki Herbert appear in the film," Mr Crawford said.

"The views expressed by the cannabis community are backed by a number of scientists and policy experts, including Prof. David Nutt, Dr. Ethan Nadelmann and Dr. Warren Young of the New Zealand Law Commission."

The film also documents New Zealand's first cultivator of medical cannabis Mother Mary Aubert. Mother Mary has been beatified by the Catholic Church, on the way to becoming New Zealand's first saint.

Director Arik Reiss of SECTION 18 MEDIA said Druglawed "is the explosive documentary exposing how New Zealand has been co-opted by the US into fighting the failed War On Drugs. Filmed in six countries over four years, this is the documentary that finally clears the smoke around New Zealand's cannabis prohibition".
