Government Recordkeeping and Audit Reports
2012/13 and 2013/14
The Chief Archivist’s two reports to the Minister of Internal Affairs on the state of recordkeeping in public offices, and on the audits carried out for 2012/2013 and 2013/2014, were presented to the House of Representatives today.
These annual reports were prepared under the Public Records Act 2005.
Each report contains a section on the state of Government recordkeeping which identifies trends and issues facing recordkeeping in the public sector along with recommendations for improvement where needed.
Both reports also contain findings for the forty-seven public offices audited in 2012/2013 and the forty audited in 2013/2014.
The current five year cycle of recordkeeping audits began in July 2010. Every public office entity will be audited during that five year period.
The 2014/2015 year will see the completion of the current five year audit cycle, with over two hundred public offices audited.
