CTU Runanga calls on iwi leaders

Maori workers are calling on iwi leaders to speak out against the employment law changes expected to go through today.

“Iwi leaders have previously spoken out when workers in Aotearoa have been under attack, we believe they should do so again now. Iwi leaders played a significant and valued role in the AFFCO meat dispute.” CTU Vice President, Maori, Syd Keepa said.

“These law changes will negatively impact on the most vulnerable workers and those that earn the least. We know that many Maori workers will feel these law changes very sharply. Iwi leaders are highly respected members of the community and we seek their public support, as they have done previously, to speak out against the Employment Relations Bill.” Keepa said.
