TerraNova decision another nail in the coffin for pay gap

TerraNova decision another nail in the coffin for the gender pay gap

The Public Service Association (PSA) has welcomed the Court of Appeal’s decision to dismiss the appeal from TerraNova Homes and Care, which brings New Zealand one step closer to genuine pay equity for women.

Erin Polaczuk, PSA national secretary, said “Kristine Bartlett’s case will have an impact that reaches far beyond her to other industries that predominantly employ women,”

“42 years since the Equal Pay Act, genuine pay equity is still a dream for many hard-working women across New Zealand.

“Jobs that have traditionally been seen as women’s work are undervalued and underpaid.

“This legal victory is another nail in the coffin for the gender pay gap.

“Our Worth 100% campaign seeks to close the gender pay gap that hurts the PSA’s 40,000+ women members.

“Congratulations to Kristine, the SFWU and her supporters for this great Labour Day news for all New Zealand workers,” said Erin Polaczuk.
