Bag snatch hero deserves a medal - McVicar
The Justice Spokesman for the Conservative Party, Garth McVicar, is calling for the woman known as the bag-snatch hero to be awarded a medal for bravery.
“I certainly encourage more people to stand up to these thugs, this is exactly the sort of action we should be encouraging and celebrating rather than kowtowing to these cowards.”
“The community response has been amazing and I would also like to congratulate the lady who set up the Give-a-little fund for Lucy Knight and her family which has raised more than $170,000 to date.”
“This response is genuine Kiwis at their best and shows that we as a nation have had enough of louts like this thinking they can get away with such despicable cowardly random acts of violence.”
“I would like to think that Lucy Knight will be awarded a medal for her bravery and as a symbol of New Zealanders intolerance of such contemptible criminal acts.”
“I would also like to congratulate the police for doing such a great job in arresting the young thug responsible.”
“It seems there are many heroes in this case to date and I only hope the Judge takes the opportunity to ensure the sentence given reflects the communities’ abhorrence of such crimes.”
