McVicar Welcomes ASA Decision.
Napier Conservative Party Candidate Garth McVicar welcomes the Advertising Standards Authority’s decision to not uphold
the pamphlet complaint of Robert Johnson, Campaign Manager for Napier Labour candidate Stuart Nash. The ASA acknowledged
that one complaint was a genuine error, that has been amended and considered “settled” by the ASA, and the other two
complaints not upheld.
McVicar states, “It is important that the people of Napier know that Napier Labour Candidate Stuart Nash refused to vote
to amend the anti-smacking law when he had the opportunity. Over 90% of Napier voters voted against the anti- smacking
law in the referendum and yet Mr. Nash ignored them and chose to follow his party instead of representing the voters of
Napier.”
McVicar believes a local MP should put the wishes of the electorate they represent first, and knows the Conservative
Party backs this. ENDS
