Crowdfunding to Save Native Fish
NZ Landcare Trust is offering an exciting project designed to assist native fish, as part of the launch of a new global crowdfunding category called 'The Landcare & Environment Collection.' This exciting step, aims to help raise funds and support, by creating and launching the project as part of a new crowdfunding initiative on the global site: www.Pozible.com/landcare due to launch 18th September.
NZ Landcare Trust CEO Nick Edgar said: "Freshwater is a topical issue in New Zealand, where the communities we work with are playing a key role in delivering positive change. We hope crowdfunding will present an innovative method of helping support this valuable work."
The collection will start with 25 projects, from across the globe, one of which is the Waikato based project 'Save NZ's Native Fish'. Projects in the Collection hope to attract support, funding pledges and donations from people anywhere in the world. People in New York, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo or Beijing could assist with putting a little money into one of the Collection projects, so the local project creators get to look after their local farms, rivers and environment. Projects will be promoted through social media networks like Facebook and community networking.
Crowdfunding is the relatively new, and exciting, internet phenomenon where project representatives pitch a project onto the Pozible website, market their campaign through their networks and social media, receive pledges for funding from the ‘crowd’, then, if they meet their funding target, the donations are transferred to the project proponent to go ahead and do the project and deliver the rewards.
Australian Landcare representative Jen Quealy, a very enthusiastic proponent of the Pozible platform said "There is an incredible diversity of projects that have been put forward for the launch, and I look forward to watching the Collection grow with new projects in the future"
Australian Landcare International Chairman Rob Youl said "Landcare and environment projects all around the world are so important for communities, for small-scale agriculture, for protecting wildlife, for community development and for looking after the land and environment. Landcare has started up in about 25 countries around the world. The wonderful projects in the Collection need just a little support, from a lot of people, to make the dreams of grassroots communities start to work."
Pozible Co-Founder and Director Alan Crabbe believes that launching the Environment category and the Landcare & Environment Collection is an exciting development for Pozible, which has seen its fair share of successful projects that have been beneficial to the environment internationally.
