SHUT DOWN THIS GOVT NOT KAITI WINZ
Te Hamua Nikora, MANA candidate for Ikaroa Rawhiti
Tuesday 16 September 2014
"I’m going to make it as hard for you to get help as I can" is Paula Bennett’s message to the people of Kaiti said MANA candidate Te Hāmua Nikora today in response to the news that National will close the WINZ office in Kaiti.
"Closing the WINZ office means the government saves money while the people of Kaiti will have to travel into town for assistance. They're transferring the costs to the very people who can afford it the least."
"It's clear that National doesn't care about helping whanau or helping them into work. All National cares about is bashing beneficiaries and slashing benefits and investing in their own interests like the Americas Cup."
"Unlike National, my area of interest is Kaiti and making sure those who need help get it without additional and unnecessary costs. And unlike Paula Bennett and Anne Tolley, my goal is to eliminate poverty and not send it even higher."
“Closing the WINZ office and moving it away from those who need the help is not what government support should look like. It's the National government that needs to be closed down and moved!”
Mr Nikora is calling on the Kaiti community to meet at the Kaiti WINZ office Friday 19 September, at 11am, to demonstrate its opposition to the closure.
