A tale of misery and destruction which ACT can stop
On the 29th of August a man came before a Judge in the North Shore District Court
According to the notes of Judge Roy Wade:
The defendant had 285 convictions
They took 28 pages to set out
He committed 171 offences whilst on bail.
He has served 141 prison sentences
He failed to attend court on 26 occasions
He breached prison release 7 times
He had 17 convictions for burglary
He had two offences for robbery
This man had smashed through the homes and property of the community
He has caused untold misery to the persons and homes he violated
"Under ACT’s three strikes policy for burglary this character would have been doing a third strike offence earlier in his career, and so much suffering would have been avoided.
"He would have spent much much longer in jail and a lot less time causing mayhem outside it.
"ACT has the only policy to stop people embarking on a career of premeditated crimes like burglary." said ACT Leader Jamie Whyte
