Internet-Mana Student Debt Promise Would Cost $8,300+ Per Household
11 SEPTEMBER 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reacting to reports that the Internet-Mana Party want to forgive existing student loan debt. Taxpayers’ Union Spokesperson Ben Craven says:
“This policy would result in a dramatic wealth transfer from middle class taxpayers to the lawyers, accountants, doctors and professionals who have large student loans, but are also likely to be on good incomes.”
“Student loan debt is currently $14.2 billion. Forgiving it would cost, on average, $8,374 per household."
Because the vast majority of Internet-Mana’s policies are uncosted, the Party has not been included in the Taxpayers’ Union 'Bribe-O-Meter’.
“This single Internet-Mana promise is likely to be more expensive that all the election policies of the mainstream political parties combined! Most voters will see this promise by Internet-Mana as both fanciful and misleading."
