Internet Mana Brings Hope of More Jobs, Better Housing And Food in Schools

Launch of Internet MANA’s “Eliminating Poverty” policy

Internet MANA will end its Road Trip around New Zealand by starting at the very beginning, with the announcement of its “Eliminating Poverty” policy.

The three-pronged policy package of Feed the Kids, Right to Work, and Affordable, Safe Housing will be launched tomorrow at Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate Hall in South Auckland.

This will be the 25th and final stop on Internet MANA’s historic Road Trip – and the beginning of the final push to Parliament.

In total, more than 8000 people have packed halls from Kaitaia to Bluff to hear a vision for the future from MANA Movement leader Hone Harawira, Internet Party leader Laila Harré, Internet Party founder Kim Dotcom and Internet MANA candidates.

Hone Harawira said: “People from all walks of life know that this Government is oblivious to the inequality crisis in New Zealand. Nothing will change this Government’s attitude – so we have to change the Government. The people we met at meetings all around New Zealand fear for the future – for themselves, for their children and for generations to come.”

Laila Harré said: “The faith placed in Internet MANA to walk the talk was humbling. It will not be forgotten as we head to Parliament. I have never, and I mean never, seen numbers like this, day after day, connecting with politics. Many for the first time.

“The message is loud and clear. We need to start again and start with the basics – feed the kids, create jobs, and provide secure and healthy homes.”

Tomorrow’s meeting starts at 7pm (doors open 6pm). Speakers include Hone Harawira, Laila Harré, Kim Dotcom, Kereama Pene, James Papali'I, Joe Trinder, Makalesi and DJ Poroufessor.

Ms Harré said the meeting would be “a celebration of our journey around the country, and a team talk for the next two weeks’ campaigning for Internet MANA”.

Mr Harawira said: “Hearing and sharing both the joys and the sorrows of the people from all parts of Aotearoa-New Zealand leaves no room for misinterpretation of the change that is needed.”
