Voting Gets Even Easier From This Week with the Arrival of Easyvote Packs
Voting in the 2014 general election gets even easier from this week, as over three million personalised EasyVote packs
make their way to New Zealand’s voters.
“Check your mailbox for your Easyvote pack from Thursday this week,” says Chief Electoral Officer Robert Peden. “If you
were enrolled by 20 August your pack will include your EasyVote card. This has your name and address, your electorate,
and a number that is used by voting place workers to quickly find where you are on the electoral roll. This makes it
even quicker and easier for us to issue your ballot paper so make sure you take it when you go to vote.”
EasyVote packs include important information about where and how to vote, the candidates for your electorate, political
party lists, and how to vote in advance if it’s easier to vote before election day.
“Take this with you when you go to vote, as it will make voting faster and easier,” says Mr Peden. “You can still vote
if you don’t have an EasyVote card, but it will take a bit longer, and you don’t need to take any other kind of
identification.”
“Check your EasyVote pack to find your nearest voting place or advance voting place,” says Mr Peden. “Vote close to home
if you can – if you vote outside your own electorate you’ll need to fill in one more form as you’ll be completing a
special vote.”
If you don’t receive an EasyVote pack by Monday 15 September you need to enrol as soon as possible. Enrolling is easy:
