Being a candidate involves more than campaigning
Tofik Mamedov, the Botany Labour Candidate, discovered that being a candidate involves more than door knocking and
introducing himself to the electors on Saturday when he was involved in a police drama. Mr Mamedov had met with his
friend and children for lunch at a local MacDonalds.
As he was heading back on the campaign trail police cars pulled into the car park as officers chased a couple of young
offenders who had stolen a wallet from a person walking along the street.
The officers were having some difficulty restraining one of the offenders while apprehending the other and called on Mr
Mamedov for assistance. As he believes in doing his civic duty Mr Mamedov left his friend and helped restrain the
offender until the officers had captured and arrested the other offender.
“Helping the police is a civic duty I and the Labour Party believe wholeheartedly in.” said Tofik Mamedov, “It is
important that we support the police in protecting people if we are to have a safe community.”
