Doesn’t Your Dad Goat Enough?
A challenge that most Kiwis can relate to in the weeks leading up to father’s day: How do we honour the great men in our life in a meaningful way?
You can be the coolest kid on the block by giving your dad a goat this father’s day!
But don't worry, you won’t have to wrap up a goat and take it down to your local post shop. TEAR Fund’s Gift for Life programme takes the hassle out of gift giving and eliminates the frustration that Kiwis experience from spending their weekends searching the shops for a meaningful gift leading up to father’s day.
The feel-good gifts in TEAR Fund’s Gift for Life Catalogue come in the form of goats, toilets, immunisation and a chicken farm to name a few. When someone buys a gift from TEAR Funds Gift for Life catalogue, that gift is given to those in need in the developing world. This gift will be in honour of their Dad and a card representing that gift is sent to him.
While most Kiwi dads strive to give their children a home, food on the table and a provide a loving environment for them to prosper in, many dads in the developing world struggle to make ends meet and provide for their family.
By purchasing a goat through the catalogue a family in the developing world will have a goat of their own to aid them in providing for their family. As Haider from Afghanistan explains “I have seven children and we didn’t have enough money for our basic needs. I was gifted a goat, it became pregnant and gave birth to twin kids. Since then, my two goats have become nine and my family has enough to survive."
TEAR Fund marketing manager, Sheena Duffy says. “Gift for Life is an opportunity for those in New Zealand to make a connection with people in the developing world in a straightforward way. The Gift for Life catalogue is a simple way to purchase items which hold great significance to those who are receiving them, the benefits of which will reach future generations. Not only that, but your Dad knows that this year on Fathers day he won't have to crack a fake smile whilst unwrapping the 7th pair of socks he has received”
Ms Duffy says, “We encourage Kiwis to do something a little different this Fathers day by purchasing the feel-good gift that keeps on giving”.
TEAR Fund will send all purchasers a special card explaining the gift and how it will benefit the recipient. TEAR Fund’s Gift for Life catalogue can be accessed through www.giftforlife.co.nz or by phoning 0800 800 777.
