From the Independent Epsom candidate: Adam Holland
Today I am very proud to have been nominated to run as an independent candidate by the people of Epsom in order to work
hard for the people of Epsom, Mount Eden, Newmarket and Remuera.
In previous elections, Epsom has been critical in getting National elected in past elections and it likely will be on
polling day, all they need now is an extremely reliable coalition partner to help them maintain a 61 seat coalition
majority. I would like to work with John Key and National in securing prosperity for all New Zealanders for the next
three years at least. I'll even go so far as to sign an affidavit in which I'll swear to do everything told of me by
National when elected as the MP for Epsom, thereby ensuring that I'll be voting with National on every single piece of
legislation with the only stipulations being harsher sentences for all sex offenders, violent criminals, thieves and
those who commit beneficiary fraud.
One of my policies includes a very small 5 percent flat tax only for those who live in Epsom. I've always believed that
once we made it to the top, we deserve to go even further via an extremely low tax rate of five percent for Epsom only.
I can appreciate that people want to earn a lot of money through determination and hard work, it's only fair, but with
tax rates as high as 45%, a lot of us have been left bogged down by high taxation and under-appreciated by others in
society. It's time we had a break from these high tax rates and instead cut needless spending, starting with absurd
government grants, beneficiaries and producing more revenue for the country by imposing heavy fines on those who commit
the crimes of tax evasion and also those who steal from us via the unemployment benefit among other beneficiaries.
I also swear to have my parliamentary salary completely slashed as I don't need the money and find it rather audacious
that some politicians preach lower tax rates whilst we pay their three digit salaries. There's certainly a lot of
hypocrisy in that.
I have deep roots in Epsom. I have lived, studied, worked as a volunteer firefighter and socialised here for a great
deal of my life. Epsom will forever remain close to my heart and I look forward to working for the people of Epsom,
Mount Eden, Newmarket and Remuera in building a more prosperous society for Epsom Voters.
