Culture Change Required
"There are serious issues raised in an Employment Relations Authority judgement released this week. The culture within the Whangarei District Council (WDC) organisation must change. The culture of any organisation is defined by its leadership starting with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)" said Mr Dearlove
The Northern Advocate reported that WDC CEO Mark Simpson
- made an untrue statement
- left himself open to bias criticism
- conducted a 'sham' interview
- applied double standards
"It is very disturbing that the previous WDC Council had carried out an investigation with Phil Halse as acting Mayor which found Mr Simpson had not acted inappropriately" said Mr Dearlove.
"We now call on Sheryl Mai and her new Council to carry out a fair and proper investigation into the actions of WDC CEO Mark Simpson, and make a genuine decision about the future tenure of this man."
and
"The ratepayers of Whangarei deserve more from their CEO and Councillors" said Mr Dearlove.
