Te Tai Tokerau Party
Last night at the Leadership Academy of Company A debate Clinton Dearlove announced the creation of a new political
party supported by Whanau and Hapu.
The "Te Tai Tokerau Party" subject to Electoral Commission approval is a vehicle for Whanau and Hapu to support building
healthy communities in the Te Tai Tokerau.
"Te Tai Tokerau is on the wrong side of social and economic statistics. We want to work with our Whanau and Hapu
supporting, empowering, building capacity, developing community solutions, and implementing those community solutions
together to build healthy communities here in Te Tai Tokerau"
and
"On the campaign trail the idea had been floated to give Maori an option of an independent local focused voice. The Kim
Dotcom partnership with the Mana Party has caused concern in the electorate, combined with the decline of the Maori
Party has opened up a space for our new party" said Mr Dearlove.
"We shall highly likely be registering the Party with the Electoral Commission post election building towards the 2017
election. Setting up the new Party allows all of our Te Tai Tokerau Whanau and Hapu where ever they reside, whichever
roll they are on, they have an ability to support our kaupapa around building local healthy communities" said Mr
Dearlove.
