Despite 20% of New Zealanders supporting it, none of the parties currently represented in Parliament endorse the legalisation of cannabis.
A New Zealand Herald video shows that all mainstream political party leaders support either prohibition, decriminalisation or medicalisation.
Only the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party supports the full legalisation, regulation and taxation of cannabis.
"All the other parties have a cannabis policy that maintains the profitability of the black-market and revenue for gangs," ALCP Leader Julian Crawford said.
"Gangsters and organised criminals will be pleased with politicians for not challenging their $1.5 billion illicit trade."
Mr Crawford said failing to tax the commercial cannabis trade had cost the New Zealand public hundreds of millions of dollars annually.
"The only way for cannabis legalisation to proceed, is for ALCP to reach 5% of the party vote," he said.
"The other parties are not willing to take an evidence based approach to the cannabis issue."
