NZ Independent Coalition announces strong list
NZ Independent Coalition Secretary Helen Anderson announced the party’s candidates for the 2014 election today - 10 candidates total, with four also standing in electorates.
“This list represents the best elements of our team. It combines experienced leaders and some serious community advocates, all outstanding in their fields of expertise,” said Helen Anderson.
NZ Independent Coalition Leader Brendan Horan says, “Our team is ready to continue the hard work, and progress made during the campaign thus far – and ensuring New Zealand hears our key messages of Safe Children, Safe Whanau & Safe Society”
The top six on the list are based in the Bay of Plenty:
1. Brendan Horan, current MP and Bay of Plenty Candidate
2. Deputy Leader Michael O’Neill, Tauranga candidate
3. Pat Spellman, Maori Broadcaster and Waiariki Candidate
4. Joanne Rye-McGregor, Mount Maunganui based teacher
5. Jack Keogh tertiary institute lecturer and Queen’s Scout award recipient
6. Barjindar Singh – a local leader of the Sikh Community, and a passionate advocate for a boosted tourism industry in the Western Bay.
The campaign will have an emphasis placed on securing the Bay of Plenty electorate, to ensure the electorate continues to be represented by an experienced MP on the front bench of Parliament.
“I’m determined to return to Parliament as the Bay of Plenty MP – and will work tirelessly to keep their faith alive, trust in tact – and enhance the community spirit.
“When I win the Bay of Plenty seat, every Party vote counts – and with just 2.0% or so of the Party vote – our area will be represented by three MPs all totally committed to working for this region,” said Brendan Horan.
