Stuff.co.nz / Ipsos poll sees Nats maintain lead
The latest stuff.co.nz / Ipsos political poll has National leading on 55% of the vote. Labour follows with 22.5% and
Greens with 11.3%.
The poll places John Key as preferred Prime Minister at 54%, ahead of David Cunliffe on 12%. Overall the Government
performance rating remains high.
"Five weeks out from the election we still see National and Labour locked in the mid 50’s and low 20’s respectively. No significant movement for these parties this wave. The big mover this wave is the Conservative Party with significant increases of the last two waves putting them neck and neck with NZ First for the first time. The high proportion of undecided voters continues which we would expect to fall in the coming weeks. The size of this group means they will still have a big impact on all parties." says Matt Benson, Managing Director Public Affairs Ipsos, Wellington.

and how they feel about the key issues facing the country.

barometers of political sentiment.

The stuff.co.nz / Ipsos poll was conducted by telephone between August 9 and August 13 with a total sample of 1007
people. It has a maximum margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 per cent.
Party Vote percentages are only based on the 803 eligible and decided voters. Excluded from Party Vote are the 20% per
cent of the sample who are undecided, do not intend to vote or are ineligible to do so.
