John Key sends Mixed-Message about Marijuana

ALCP are accusing Prime Minister John Key of sending mixed-messages about drugs, after he was asked about medical cannabis on a school visit.

John Key said "This is the fundamental message, drugs are bad for you".

ALCP Leader Julian Crawford said this statement contradicted the medicinal value that many drugs had, including cannabis.

"10,000 Kiwi kids suffer from epileptic seizures and for many the only medicine that relieves their suffering is low-THC cannabis," he said.

"To deny patients life-saving medicine because 'drugs are bad' is a terrible message to send to our youth"

Mr Crawford said illegal drugs such as opium and cocaine were already allowed to be prescribed and used under medical supervision, so there was no reason to treat medical cannabis as a 'bad' thing.
