‘Party Party’ Hitting the Right Notes
The “sold out” sign has gone up at the Internet Party’s concert in Christchurch tonight.
A capacity crowd of 1000 will be at The Foundry for the Party Party concert, part of a major national musical tour aimed
at getting more young voters involved in the political process ahead of the general election on September 20.
Featuring some of the country’s leading live acts – State of Mind, Optimus Gryme, Sons of Zion, Laughton and Brad Kora,
PNC, Kamandi, Team Dynamite, Tommy Ill and Beatmob, along with Internet Party founder Kim Dotcom – the Party Party tour
kicked off with a pumped up crowd of more than 500 hitting the dance floor in Auckland on Wednesday night.
Internet Party leader Laila Harré said the response to Party Party had been staggering.
“The Party Party is all about engaging young people in politics, and it’s working. By combining the message of why it’s
so important that young Kiwis get out and vote this election with high-energy music and dance, it’s a message they can
finally get.
“Auckland was outstanding and with the Christchurch event sold out it’s clear the Internet Party is connecting with
young people in a way that no other party can match. Why? Because we get them and we get what matters to them. What they
told us was absolutely clear – they’re sick of a government that doesn’t listen to them or value them. Internet MANA is
going to put that right on September 20.”
The Party Party hits Wellington on Friday night and Dunedin on Saturday night. With a big turnout in Auckland and a full
house in Christchurch they’ll be tough acts to follow, said Ms Harré.
“Let’s pump it and give the Beehive a real shakeup.”
