Majority of Commonwealth countries are already republics

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games are here and it's a common misbelief that a Kiwi republic would mean that New Zealand would have to leave the Commonwealth. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

New Zealand Republic has released a 'Commonwealth Fact Sheet' on its website so people can learn more about what a Kiwi Head of State means to Commonwealth membership.

Campaign Chairman, Savage, wants to make sure New Zealanders are clear about what having an independent head of state means for Commonwealth membership:

"The majority of Commonwealth countries are already republics and already have their own head of state".

"New Zealand will not leave the Commonwealth when we become a republic. We will still be part of the Commonwealth and we will carry on competing at the Commonwealth Games".

"Our campaign for a New Zealand Head of State is all about achieving the best for New Zealand. Having an independent Head of State who can represents us all is the best option for New Zealand."

"The Glasgow Games are a great opportunity for Kiwis to find out more about the Commonwealth".
