On 21 July 2014, the Electoral Commission referred Wayne Walford, National Party candidate for Napier, to Police for displaying election advertising on a signwritten vehicle promoting his candidacy and the National Party.
It is the Electoral Commission’s view that the vehicle signage constitutes a breach of sections 204F and 204H of the Electoral Act as it did not include a promoter statement and was not authorised in writing by the party secretary.
As this matter is now with the Police, the Electoral Commission will not be commenting further.
