ALCP Policy supported by 20% of Kiwis
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party is the only political party representing the 20 per cent of New Zealanders who want
cannabis legalised.
A Herald-DigiPoll showed 20 per cent of respondents favoured legal cannabis, over 30 per cent supported
decriminalisation and 45 per cent wanted to maintain prohibition.
While Internet Mana and the Greens were targeting the decriminalisation demographic, ALCP was the only party catering to
the legalisation demographic.
"We only need a quarter of the Party Votes from those who support legalisation to cross the 5 per cent threshold. ALCP
are ideally suited to holding the balance of power and forming a confidence and supply agreement with either Labour or
National," ALCP leader Julian Crawford said.
"Legalisation benefits the public by bringing in much needed revenue and regulations, while decriminalisation still
leaves much of the supply-chain in the hands of the black-market."
Mr Crawford said a constitutional objective of ALCP was to "elect competent men and women to Parliament" and he believes
that single-policy/multi-issue parties like ALCP were the future of MMP politics.
