EPMU condemns imprisonment of Al Jazeera journalists
The Print and Media industry council of the EPMU condemns the prosecution and imprisonment of Al Jazeera journalists in Egypt.
“This is a serious threat to the freedom of the press,” says Joe Gallagher, EPMU industry organiser for print and media. “We have no faith in this decision.
“All journalists must be free to report the news impartially and without fear of persecution.
“We are calling on the Egyptian government to free the journalists immediately.”
The EPMU represents around 700 New Zealand journalists as well as other workers involved in print and news media..
