PSA says Te Roopu Taurima Chief Executive must go
The Public Service Association (PSA) says the Chief Executive of Te Roopu Taurima o Manukau Trust must go, after the
resignation of the chair of the Board earlier this week following allegations of financial mismanagement.
The PSA represents over 460 staff working at the Trust.
Richard Wagstaff, PSA National Secretary, said “Te Roopu Taurima o Manukau Trust has been brought into disrepute by the
actions of those at the top,”
“Trust staff no longer have faith in the ability of the current leadership to fulfil the founding principles of the
Trust.
“The PSA supported the establishment of Te Roopu Taurima, and we continue to believe in its kaupapa.
“Requests by the PSA to meet with the Chief Executive on behalf of staff are being ignored, and staff are feeling left
in the dark.
“The PSA is aware that whanau of clients asking questions are being directed to a media relations consultant, rather
than having their questions answered by Trust management.
“PSA members have worked hard to support vulnerable clients, and want the trust to be successful.
“The Ministry of Health’s appointment of David Russell and other advisors is welcome, but it does not go far enough to
ensure proper management, nor to regain lost trust,” said Richard Wagstaff.
