NZ Arbitrators - The Top List

Published: Tue 27 May 2014 04:41 PM
LawFuel.co.nz - The New Zealand law news and law jobs site has released its list of New Zealand's leading arbitrators.
As arbitration becomes more important within the legal profession both locally and internationally the prospects for New Zealand to develop its status as a leading arbitration venue is unparalleled.
Former High Court Justice David Williams QC comes out at the top of the list as New Zealand's most successful and famous arbitrator, having handled over 100 large scale disputes internationally, including working on a $US1.76 billion award in respect of an Ecuadorian dispute.
With the world's largest arbitration body, the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) announcing that New Zealand would co-host its biannual conference in 2018, the prospects for New Zealand developing its reputation as a major centre for arbitration and dispute resolution services has never been better.
And with a group of well qualified and experienced arbitrators, the New Zealand profession has the ability to develop a significant "legal industry" from the arbitration work.
