ALCP Release Shadow Budget Report

ALCP Release Shadow Budget Report

The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party is pleased to announce its Shadow Budget for 2014.

Party Leader Julian Crawford said it showed responsible spending and a focus on growth, as well as adding to government revenue.

"Within three years our policy will add $1 billion to the government's revenue annually," Mr Crawford said.

"We would spend $1.05 billion in 2014 ensuring our policy is implemented properly."

- $140 million will be spent on clinical trials of medical cannabis and research scholarships.

- $700 million is allocated for compensation of people with cannabis convictions.

- $50 million will be spent provided free hemp milk and protein products to school children.

- $100 million is allocated to provide low cost or social housing that is built from Hempcrete.

- $50 million in subsidies for hemp growers will be made available.

- $10 million will be spent establishing a new regulatory authority to licence the commercial cultivation and sale of cannabis.

If ALCP’s budget is implemented, all New Zealanders will be better off, while existing services are all maintained. Our policy combines economic growth with environmental sustainability, Mr Crawford said.

"We are dedicated to a future that empowers New Zealanders and communities to achieve their true potential."
