Eviction notices bullying Mother's Day present
8 May 2014
PRESS RELEASE Sue Henry Spokesperson Housing Lobby "Eviction notices bullying National Government's Mother's Day present to elderly, sick and disabled State Housing tenants"
"As 'Mothers' Day' rolls around again, this Government is lining up long-term State Housing tenants to bully them out of their homes - Auckland-wide," says Sue Henry, Spokesperson for the Housing Lobby.
"It's appalling that these mainly older women, and Mums, consist of heart patients, the sick and severely disabled."
"The Housing Lobby are calling on Cabinet to reverse their decision, and to exclude the elderly, sick and disabled from tenancy reviews and evictions, and to reinstate tenancy tenure protection for those whose situation will not change."
