Media Advisory: Police release total figures for campaign against alcohol fuelled violence
The final total figures for the eighth police led Operation Unite: a Blitz on Drunken Violence was announced today by Jon White, CEO of the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA).
The figures for 17–21 April 2014, show that there were 2181 arrests/reports and 348 assaults in jurisdictions that participated in the campaign in Australia and New Zealand.
The aim of Operation Unite is to crack down on anti-social behaviour and challenge the culture and perceived acceptability of excessive drinking that leads to violence.

Operation Unite: A Blitz on Drunken Violence
Over 17–21 April 2014, Australian and New Zealand police will stage an Australia and New Zealand Weekend of Action called Operation Unite: A Blitz on Drunken Violence. Operation Unite is a combined policing operation conducted across Australia and New Zealand focusing on alcohol misuse, violence and anti-social behaviour. The intention of the operation is to draw attention to the broader implications associated with alcohol misuse in public locations, including crime and anti-social behaviour, health and injury problems and subsequent impact on policing and communities.
