Crime drop a fitting tribute to outgoing Commissioner
Further falls in recorded crime for calendar 2013 are a fitting tribute to outgoing Commissioner Peter Marshall, Police Association President Greg O’Connor said today.
“Whatever else a Commissioner may achieve, these are the results which people ultimately judge Police and its leadership on,” Mr O’Connor said.
“Commissioner Marshall has presided over drops in recorded crime of 4.8% in 2011, 7.4% in 2012, and now 4.1% in 2013.
“Clearly, policing is a team effort, and these results are a huge credit to the hard work of all police officers and support staff, despite the resource pressures on them. Nevertheless, confirmation of continued record-low crime rates, on the eve of his departure from the top job, is a fitting tribute to Peter Marshall’s leadership through a time of considerable challenges in Police,” Mr O’Connor said.
