Te Ata Tino Toa view on John Key flag review

Te Ata Tino Toa view on John Key flag review

Te Ata Tino Toa thinks that John Key's 'conversation' on the NZ flag will bring some creative responses.

'We're confident that a new non-indigenous flag will sit comfortably with the Maori flag.'

Te Ata Tino Toa promotes the model used in Australia where the Koori flag flies alongside the non-indigenous flag on the Harbour Bridge, in schools, everywhere.

As Australians, or even New Zealanders, develop an identity that is rooted in the South Pacific, the group foresees a time where Pakeha adopt a flag that reflects this identity.

For now, the group encourages Maori unity under the Maori flag, as it represents our roots, our present and our future. It's good to see Maori confidence in our place, while non-Maori debate a symbol that will represent their place in Aotearoa.
