New Zealand should follow Colorado and Uruguay's lead
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party is applauding the legalisation of cannabis in Colorado and Uruguay from January 1 this year and call on New Zealand to follow their lead.
Regulation and taxation of cannabis would also be the best approach for New Zealand, taking cannabis off the streets, ALCP leader Julian Crawford said.
"Unfortunately, other political parties have dropped the ball on cannabis, so it is imperative that the ALCP is elected to Parliament in 2014," Crawford said.
"The Green party has advocated decriminalisation with instant fines, while the world is actually moving towards legalisation with regulation. All other parties in Parliament have also failed to promote regulation of cannabis."
Only a Party Vote for ALCP will ensure that a similar policy to Colorado and Uruguay gets implemented in New Zealand.
- ALCP support the right to
grow, possess and trade personal amounts of cannabis at
home, without a licence.
- ALCP support the licensing of
commercial cultivation and sales of cannabis.
- ALCP
support the research and development of targeted cannabinoid
pharmaceuticals for a wide range of medical conditions.
-
ALCP support the industrialisation of hemp for producing
over 10,000 eco-friendly, natural products.
"This policy will significantly increase tax-revenue and funding for every Government service, benefiting everyone," Crawford said.
"However, ALCP needs to be around the cabinet table in order to ensure a brighter future for all New Zealanders."
