Dr Michael Kidd advises that he will seek the Labour party nomination for the seat of Upper Harbour.

He will stand on a policy of restoring the cuts in welfare by the National Government which have negatively impacted on the most vulnerable.

Michael is confident of mounting a strong campaign on community values to capture the seat from the two women so far declared: Bennett and Rankin both with polarizing view- points.

Michael brings with him valuable legal experience as a pro bono legal sole practitioner widely respected in the Courts and the profession. Also widely respected compassion. He has been a Human Rights lawyer for the last 30 years in Australia, Fiji and NZ.

A recent pro bono case of his : the Kiribati man seeking climate change refugee status, shows the deficiency of the current government’s treatment of climate change, and immigration issues involving Pasifica people. Michael is a member of the Pasifica community having married a Fijian, and living in Fiji 13 years ago.

Dr Kidd rejoined as a member of Labour for the last three years, having been involved in the Kirk era and the ALP in Australia.
