Exporters welcome TPP momentum
New Zealand exporters welcome the progress being made in TPP negotiations, says ExportNZ.
The Singapore round of the Trans Pacific Partnership negotiations has concluded with progress in key areas and with a decision to reconvene for further negotiation next month.
ExportNZ Executive Director Catherine Beard says it is good to see momentum increasing as the negotiators persevere with the trade agreement.
“New Zealand exporters are seeking an agreement that eliminates trade barriers and opens doors for new export markets for our products.
“We accept that a high quality agreement that covers all sectors will take time to negotiate.
“Integrating the economies of the Asia Pacific region in this way is a huge undertaking that would have an enormous payoff for growth and jobs in New Zealand, and progress to date is pleasing,” Catherine Beard said.
