Environmental consultant to head DOC’s partnership group

The Department of Conservation has appointed environmental and recreational consultant Dr Kay Booth to lead DOC’s conservation partnerships group.

Kay Booth will join DOC’s senior leadership team next month as Deputy Director General –Conservation Partnerships. She will manage the group within DOC focused on working with outside organisations to grow conservation.

Kay Booth is currently the owner/director of Lindis Consulting Ltd - a Nelson-based consultancy which specialises in environmental and recreational planning for natural spaces.

She has been a member of the New Zealand Conservation Authority since 2005 and served as chair of the NZCA since 2011. Dr Booth has also served on the NZ Walking Access Commission, the NZ Geographic Board and the Aoraki Conservation Board.

Kay Booth has previously worked for Tourism Resource Consultants and as a senior lecturer at Lincoln University in Parks and Recreation.

DOC’s Director-General Lou Sanson says Kay Booth will bring highly relevant experience to DOC of managing conservation partnerships on both an operational and strategic level, as well as expertise in the commercial world.
