Christcurch East By-Election Candidate Policy
It has long held been a conviction of mine to do whatever it takes to not only restore and uphold democracy in New
Zealand, but also to respect and defend the decisions of electorate voters, in this case, the electorate of Christchurch
East.
Our current political structure is absolutely corrupt as a direct result of party politics. All of us as New Zealanders
are permitted to tick two boxes every 3 years in order to 'choose' somebody to 'choose' for us then back to the polling
booths 3 years later. There's a major issue with this and that is control over representatives by their party's hairaki.
For instance, every single member of The National Party voted in favour of ammending the controversial GCSB bill. All 59
members of The National Party were told to vote in favour of the ammendments although the bill was probably strongly
oppossed by many of those members, if one single member of the National Party voted against, the bill wouldn't have
passed, and said member would've been punished and possibly kicked out of the Party. That is the corruption of New
Zealand democracy, it's an insult to the New Zealand people and a weak form of democracy. Shocking.
Christchurch East doesn't have to face this dilemma, however. If elected as an independent, this issue will never be
present as I vow to hold a referendum on every single piece of legislation introduced to The House of Representatives.
Even if I personally agree or disagree, my vote stands with the majority of Christchurch East.
I believe democracy is far more effective this way, it's more fair on the voters who ought to be respected as
citizens/taxpayers.
I also vow to donate my entire parliamentary salary to Christchurch East. I'm not in this for money, I'm here for my
people.
