Waikato District Council preliminary elections results
Preliminary election results for Waikato District Council from yesterday’s local elections show Allan Sanson has been reelected as Mayor.
Final results will be officially declared on Thursday 17 October, subject to any recount. Full election results can be found on Council’s website at www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/Your-Council/Elections/Results-2013-Local-Authority-Election.aspx
Preliminary results show the successful Ward Councillors for contested wards are:
·         Awaroa ki Tuakau – Jacqui Church, Lionel Petersen
·         Onewhero-Te Akau – Rosemarie Costar
·         Eureka – Rob McGuire
·         Huntly – Shelley Lynch, Graeme Tait
·         Ngaruawahia – Janet Gibb, Moera Solomon
·         Raglan – Clint Baddeley
The following Ward Councillors were elected unopposed:
·         Whangamarino – Jan Sedgwick
·         Hukanui-Waerenga – Dynes Fulton
·         Newcastle – Noel Smith
·         Tamahere – Wally Hayes
Preliminary results show the successful Community Board members for contested Community Boards are:
·         Onewhero-Tuakau – Ewen Gilmour, Noel Miller, Ann Anderson, Richard Gee, Bronwyn Watson, Fiona Gower
·         Huntly – Shirley Boyde, Sandra Stewart, Bryce Mounsey, Denise Lamb, Ron Farrar, Kim Bredenbeck
The following Community Board members were elected unopposed:
·         Taupiri – Ken Clewlow, Elva Gouk, Fred Hansen, Howard William Lovell, Julie Ross, Deane Rodney Vernall
·         Ngaruawahia – Jack Hector Ayers, Wendy Diamond, Trish Forsyth, Bryce Sherson, Marae Tukere, James Whetu
·         Raglan – Linda Cole, Boyd Turongo Dixon, Matt Holl, Bob Macleod, Jan Taylor, Alan Vink
The following Te Kauwhata Licensing Trust members were elected unopposed:
·         Doug Boyde, Blair Cooper, Kevin Daniels, Nireen Jefferis, John van der Star
A by-election will be held in February for the remaining vacancy on Te Kauwhata Licensing Trust.
